Some Greatness
So my second family (Sam’s family, I spend more time there than at my own house) had a Mexican Fiesta today. Really it was just another party that my aunt threw for family (which I have no problems with whatsoever). Due to these family functions I get to interact with a group of people who I admire and look up to. One of these people (who I’m still mustering up the courage to have an actual conversation with) is none other than the legendary Bryan Campagna. If you’re new here or you’ve forgotten, Bryan is a police officer in the city of Oceanside and recently made the S.W.A.T. team there. He served his time in the Army, went through Ranger training and achieved the highest honor possible by serving in the Old Guard. He’s currently going through S.W.A.T. training in the L.A. area and was able to make it out to the festivities today. And while my admiration and idol worshipping of this man is nowhere close to the amount Sam looks up to him, he’s still a demi-god in my eyes. So, because he was just coming in from training he had his S.W.A.T. gear with him and decided to let Sam and I take a gander at it all and let us…how should I say it…handle the goods. So Sam and I each got to try on Mr. Campagna’s tactical attire and weapons. I’ll let Sam get into the details as he’s sure to write about this historic day, but in brief…I held a machine gun! And I wore body armor! But there is one thing, and that is that looking at Sam in a tactical suit, he belongs on the force. If anyone can look like a cop and look like they belong as a cop and such, it’s Sam. This day just makes me more eager for the future.
