I Find It Amusing

Hey folks, I’d like to introduce you all to an experimental segment that I’d like to call “I Find It Amusing.” What “I Find It Amusing” is is just regular old Andy complaining about this, that or the other (wow, I just realized that “or the” is “other”) but in the “Yeah, it’s funny in that not so funny way because it’s really more annoying or just a nearly interesting observation, but if I’m lucky it’ll give people a meager chuckle” type of way. In these complaints I figure I’ll tackle one issue at a time and in very short, often one sentence descriptions and/or musings. So let’s try it out.

I find it amusing that I can’t watch an old movie containing the New York skyline without someone sighing and saying “oh, there’s the twin towers,” as though they were explaining to a child who was born post-9/11 that these were what the towers looked like.

How was that? Feedback? Does it work, does it not? Anyways, a couple notices before I get off of this thing. First, I’ll be taking a CPR class tomorrow at 10 a.m. (no, it’s not for a chance to meet ladies). Also, after work tomorrow I’ll be leaving to go camping with my parents. Work is at 6:30, I’ll likely be off at 10:30 or 11. I’ll be returning Saturday morning as I may have work (but probably won’t) that evening. And in lieu of my absence on Friday, the 4th. Go America. Happy Birthday. 232 years young. How does it feel? Alright. I’m done.

The radio station that I used to listen to when I worked at the camera store has come up with some greatness that I feel should be shared. Minnesota Public Radio has this to say:

Between 1999 and 2002, Joe Strummer hosted a series of radio programs for the BBC featuring his extensive record collection of rock, reggae, folk, and more. Starting at noon on July 4th, The Current will broadcast eight one-hour episodes of Joe Strummer’s “London Calling.” Tune in and celebrate with The Current and Joe Strummer this Fourth of July!

On July 8th (I believe) the documentary The Future Is Unwritten comes out on DVD. It is an excellent documentary for anyone who is a fan of the Clash, Joe Strummer or anyone who is interested in the early punk movement. I’ll leave the link for the radio station, all you have to do is click “listen” under “The Current” at the top right of the page then select the listening format. Also, the “noon” broadcast time will actually be 9 a.m. PST due to the fact that they’re broadcasting from Minnesota.

For not posting anything yesterday. I’ve been staying at Sam’s place since the other child returned from Seattle and I haven’t had my computer to aid me in the ever popular rants about things nobody cares about. Why my parents have allowed demons to overrun the house, I don’t know. But I do know that they will be gone within the next hour or so (hopefully). Meaning I can shave and grab my work attire and not worry about people with the stench of big asshole hassling me. Although it is funny to see that my brother’s waistline is looking like an innertube and he’s developed man boobies. When you look at him his chest and stomach look like a very sad snowman. But in my absence from the house I visited the heaven/haven that is Bass Pro and came back with some nice shirts and a U.S.A. flag chair, which I’ve dubbed Chairmerica or Armchairica. It’s interchangable. More later…hopefully.

I had planned on going on a rant about how technology is making people lazy, impersonal and insensetive, but due to the fact that I’m upset at my roommates for being morons without a notion of responsibility and who caused me to drink a bottle of cheap wine in the bath tub due to frustration, I’d rather not get into it. Tomorrow will be a day of uneasiness and happiness at the same time. The 12th is a ride along with Sam, Sam’s cousin Bryan and Bryan’s partner in Oceanside. I am excited. Aside from that, the most exciting thing in my near future is the release of From the Mountain to the Sea on August 5th. And Massachusetts, what’s the deal? Come back to the blog. We miss you here in Southern California.
